Cable Broadband Services
Broadband refers to transfer large amount of data at high speed from internet. Broadband normally offers up to 5 to 10 times more speed than the normal dial-up connection. The two common types of broadband are normally accessed through Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) that transfer data through telephone lines and Cable known as Cable Broadband that transfer data through cable.
To access cable broadband services a cable modem is required at customer's place and a termination system at operator's place which is connected either through the coaxial cable or fiber optic cable.
There are always an issue that which service is better whether DSL broadband or Cable broadband. Cable broadband services can transfers data up to 30 mbps whereas it becomes difficult for DSL lines to transfer data after 10 mbps, so Cable broadband offers superiority to DSL broadband services in terms of sped and bandwidth. These high performance speeds from Cable broadband depends upon many factors such as computers accessing cable broadband cannot match with their speeds resulting in slow performance or number of users in the neighborhood accessing the cable broadband at the same time may also result in low performance whereas DSL broadband performance is not affected if many users at the neighborhood are accessing broadband services simultaneously.
Regarding other factors such as security issues, DSL broadband offers more superiority than cable broadband as all users in a region share the same network whereas at DSL every user is accessing its network through his personal telephone lines. Cable broadband installation is very easy and is just used as a plug & play device whereas DSL installation requires lot of installation process. Regarding pricing factor cable broadband is somewhat costlier in comparison to DSL broadband services. So both networks have their own advantages and disadvantage the choice of using broadband services depend upon user to user according to their needs.
